Videos About Central Park and NYC

Central Park's Victorian Roots & Influence

Take a virtual walk in Central Park and learn about Alexander von Humboldt, an influence of both of the park's designers, Calvert Vaux and Frederick Law Olmsted. Humboldt was a really remarkable individual. The Hudson River School of painting was inspired by his work as well.

See the park area designed for ladies only (hint: they didn't appreciate it).

Central Park Cherry Blossoms and Boathouse

We're currently experiencing the pandemic of 2020, but spring is usually a lovely time to visit Central Park. Take a virtual walk in the park to view the beautiful blooming cherry trees and the historic boathouse.

Were there military forts in Central Park? Yes!

Before Central Park came into being, the northern section of that area was used to protect the city from attack by the British army in the War of 1812 (the war never actually touched the area).

We'll visit this and other pre-park sites. Apologies for the wind noise. It was pretty rough on my phone's internal microphone.  Take a walking tour with me: www.selectoursnyc.com
